Four Letters

I hate that you know what's on my mind.
I hate that you see what I cannot find.
I hate the way you smile at me.
I hate the way your eyes
shine like the sea.
I hate it when you say my name.
I hate it when you play the game.
I hate it when you walk my way.
Yet I hate it when you stay away.
I never liked the way you talked.
I never liked the way you walked.
I hope the one day your grades will fall.
I hope that one day you'll never be tall.
I want to see you, all alone.
I want to see you mature and grown.
I hate it when you stare me down.
I also hate it when you always frown.
I hate it when you don't talk to me.
I hate it when you yell at me.
I hate it when you're by my side.
I hate it when you reveal where I am
when I hide.
I hate that I can't help but say.
The word hate isn't something I feel today.
It's replaced by another word.
A word that I thought didn't live.
Something I thought was absurd.
But replace the “hate” with it.
And then you'll see.
That four letter word
Will make you and me happy.
